The Kerala Government’s Failure in Creating Industrial Jobs: A Cause for Youth Discontent

Kerala should discuss why it cannot attract private industries?

Why it is getting only 0.5% FDI investment in industries?

Why Kerala is ranked 28 in ease of doing business?

Why migration of youth is increasing out of Kerala?

Why large number of educated youths of Kerala have to go in other countries or other states to get the jobs?

All these questions are matter of serious debate. BJP wants to raise these issues.

The latest incidences of attack on Private businesses is worrisome. Attack on super market owner of Shaan in Kollam, attack on Muthoot car, attack on Sarathy bus in Thiruvananthapuram and attack on Raj Mohan in Kumarakom are cases where Government should have taken strict action.

Which new investor would come in such a scenario?

Both LDF & UDF are responsible for the flight of investment away from Kerala.

Kitex textile shifted out of Kerala to Telangana, BMW delegation was greeted by Hartal and decided not to open car manufacturing unit, hard disk component factory decided to invest in China. Both governments are answerable why IT Park in Kochi, which was expected to generate 90,000 jobs has produced only 3000 jobs?

Earlier also Hindustan Unilever, CEAT tyres, Electro Steel, and many other projects decided to invest in other states and not in Kerala.

The irony of this situation is that the youth from Kerala are working in these factories.

This is because of unfriendly business policies of LDF and UDF governments, lack of infrastructure, cumbersome regulatory processes, delay in granting permissions, high taxation, hostile attitude towards private industry and threats from unions are some of the reasons for Kerala’s low standing on ease of doing business.

Business Reform Action Plan(BRAP) ranking of Kerala is in last (third) category. The first category is top achievers and second category is achievers. Kerala is in the third category as aspirers .

If the same anti-investment policies continue in Kerala, it is expected the migration will be double from 30,00,000 to 60,00,000 in the next seven years.
